The Duquesne Dukes decided not to play in the College Basketball Invitational, but the Pitt Panthers, after being spurned by the NCAA Tournament (unsurprising) and NIT (mildly surprising) are going to give the CBI a shot. The Panthers face Wofford in the first round, which shows you how hard the Panthers fell this season. Here?s the full 2012 CBI bracket.
Milwaukee vs. TCU
Western Illinois vs. Oregon State
Washington State vs. San Francisco
North Dakota State vs. Wyoming
Delaware vs. Butler
Quinnipiac vs. Penn
Princeton vs. Evansville
Wofford vs. Pittsburgh
The Wofford/Pitt matchup will take place on Wednesday, March 14. Wofford finished the season 19-13, with a 12-6 record in the Southern Conference. The Terriers did beat Wake Forest this year, but their only matchup against a truly high-profile team was a game against Wisconsin that they lost 69-33.
So ? yeah. The season isn?t going to have a particularly climactic ending for the Panthers. Not that we expected one, really, but this looks like no fun at all.
